Third Annual Garden City Flea Circus Was a Hit With the Pets and Owners

Pet owners and their pets were on hand Saturday, June 13 for the third annual Garden City Flea Circus. Held at the old farmer’s Market area adjacent to the Krogers at Ford and Middlebelt, the event was sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority.

The Garden City Flea Circus is a pet adoption and awareness event where more than a dozen local pet rescue organizations with pets in need of adoption were in attendance.These included: Dog Aide, P.O.E.T Animal Rescue, Last Day Dog Rescue, Providing for Paws, Monroe Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Monroe SPCA), Summer Wind Farms Sanctuary, Almost Home No Kill Shelter, Special Animal Friends and Rescue Inc. (SAFARI), Greyhound Expressions, Saving Tails Animal Rescue (S.T.A.R.) and Greyheart Greyhound Rescue. The Rainbow Feathers Bird Club and Rescue and Wonderland Rabbit Rescue were also at the event.

Sgt. Rudy, of the Garden City Police Department’s K9 Unit will be there along with his handler, Officer Bruce Shippe.

Dr. John Hermann waS on site with his mobile vet clinic, providing basic canine and feline vaccinations, along with heart worm testing, for a nominal fee. Garden City Clerk Allyson Bettis will have Garden City pet licenses available for purchase.
