As Garden City business community members Kelly Perkins and Kerry Partin know, there are lots of items to check off when starting a new organization. Kelly and Kerry were instrumental in forming the new Garden City Business Alliance, and the GCBA is getting off to a fine start.
Step one was having the initial “business card swap” where Garden City business met and decided on a name for the group. Next, Kerry created a Facebook page where new members can share their business cards and get the buzz going about the GCBA using social media.
Step three – the new Garden City Business Alliance website, a place where members can keep up to date with GCBA progress and upcoming meetings. It’s also a great place for sharing upcoming events with members of the community, and keeping them involved.
Potential GCBA members can request a membership online. GCBA members can advertise their services and contact information in the online member directory – and, at some point, they’ll be able to offer discounts as well.
Kelly and Kerry met with Katherine and Rick of Palmerworks Design in Garden City who donated their services to the GCBA. The foursome worked out the details for the site, and decided on two perfect domain names: www.gardencitybusinessalliance.org and www.gcbiz48135.org – for a short and snappy name that’s easy to remember.
